From a real world perspective, DAL UK aims to identify and troubleshoot emerging digital workflow standards, specifications, procedures, products and technologies in the areas of preflighting, colour management, proofing and file formats/delivery. It encourages the formulation and adoption of non vendor specific “industry standards” through the involvement of a wide range of industry practitioners including ad agencies, printers, repro houses, publishers, solutions providers etc.

Through members’ proven expertise, resources and dedication DAL UK aims to develop, enhance and encourage the adoption of industry accepted, standardised best practices for digital workflows, in order to ensure and maintain quality publication printing.

History

DAL was established in the USA in 1996 and has since become an influential body within the graphic arts industry. DAL UK was set up in 1998 and is a non-profit organisation, with voluntary membership, a President and Steering Committee. DAL UK meets quarterly (January, April, July, October) and attracts over sixty key industry players, working closely with the PPA and Advertising Pre-Press Association.
