DAL – changing for the future
Gio Cantarella led a discussion about whether DAL needs to broaden its scope to encompass more than just printed mediums, for the full presentation please click here.
It was agreed that we need to attract attendees from broader markets, including advertising and digital. There are no similar groups to DAL that span other industries, however we will approach the IPA, ISBA and AOP to see if they can be of help. Any assistance for relevant contacts in these industries would be gratefully received.
It was felt that TV was one step too far, but we need to include the key elements of cross media campaigns. Clients are much happier to work with organisations that can help them with a range of disciplines.
The question was raised as to who the target audience of DAL is and what their key issues are. It seems the majority of current attendees are print focussed, which goes back to the origins of DAL. We must therefore only widen the scope of the group as much as the members would like.
It was also asked whether we should aim to have more meetings per year if we are trying to cover more topics.
We would be grateful for any input from members on where they would like to see DAL going in the future. Please email these to Hannah@leafagency.com.

Ghent workgroup
Andy Psarianos updated us about the current projects being worked on by GWG, for his presentation please click here.
Andy emphasised that transparency and colour management were the next big things that printers needed to be able to handle.
A discussion then broke out regarding colour management on digital presses, which will be explored further in January!
